Syphon Filter sports some pretty good graphics. Now if you're going to compare the world of Solid Snake to that of Gabe Logan, than you're going to be a bit disappointed. Don't compare, because Syphon Filter really is an exceptional game. The visuals are top notch, with lots of special effects and more than its share of pyrotechnics make this a spectacle to be seen and experienced. Syphon Filter has more in common with Tomb Raider graphically than it does with Metal Gear. There are some very impressive effects, but some of the graphics do appear to be rather blocky.

The real test with a game like Syphon Filter is the gameplay. Lets just say that Syphon Filter gets a A+ here! The controls are spot on and really offer players great control over Gabe as he blasts his way through terrorists in all 13 levels. Players are offered more weaponry than should be legally possible. This all adds up to a vigilant romp that delivers far more ACTION than Metal Gear does. One very cool feature is the "sniper" mode in which you can use your sniper rifle to pick off terrorists from a distance. Syphon Filter is filled with everything any action shooter fan could ever hope for.

The atmosphere is captured perfectly, the cinemas are perfectly interleaved with the action, really drawing you into Gabe's chaotic world. Top this all off with great moody music, top notch sound effects and surprisingly good voice acting, and you have a instant hit for your PlayStation. Syphon Filter is one Hot Game and you'd be a total loon to pass on a sleeper like this. You'll spend hours marveling at how cool it is to torch a guy with your big bad stun gun! Ah... saving the world has never been this fun!
